For the third yea running i've been left to carve the pumpkin! Although I am in charge of candy/chocolate distribution...one for you, one for me, one for you, one for me...

Some Of Southend's Finest

I still have a load of these tucked away. A real shame both places are now long gone.

Failed Project

Back at the start of the year a group of friends scattered around the world decided to send a couple of disposable cameras to each other taking one photo each before passing it on. Sadly the package containing the cameras got lost in the post somewhere between their scheduled stops in Japan and Melbourne. I took a digital photo of my disposable photo at the time just in case. The project attempt #2 is due to begin again soon, fingers crossed the world's postmen and women will take more care this time.

First up is Supper's Ready, then it's Strange Brew

Colchester Skate

Went to Colchester with Gorm on Saturday, met up with Russ, Vernan and Dave and skated some of my favourite local spots and some of Dave's recent constructions.

French In Summer Bay

The dark one didn't mention cats or Croydon on his cameo in Home & Away. If you squint you can see his tee and the back of his head.

Don't Diss Dyrdek

I told Russ and Barry to button it!

Soy Panday & Paris

More a life in a day, than a day in the life...Sylvain Robineau documents both skater and city in a way that if you don't want to go skate after this, you'll never skate again.

Who Didn't Want to Skate Like Pepe Martinez?

Lakai

Back in 2001 at the Lakai tour stop in London LBD and I were lucky enough to grab a few words with Rick and Mike (Russ was in the Pub)! At the time Rob and I were making some t-shirts so I swapped one with Rick.

Crailtap

Memory Screen tees made it to crailtap in 2002. New designs soon...ha!

MN Mixtape #1

In early 2002 I was living by myself in Birmingham and used to drive a fair bit to go skate, around the same time I discovered downloading mp3s off the internet. One weekend I trawled the corners of what was the original Napster and such like to put together a mixtape for my car to hype me up pre-skate. I was digging through some old backup CDs the other week and came across the original mp3 files and thought I'd share it. The mp3s are lowish quality because back then it was all dialup! Was stoked at the time to get the very rare Milk song from Video Days (this was before the Commonwealth Stacks CD release, hence the skate noises!) and also the timeless Dinosaur Jr. 'A Little Ethnic Song' used in Alien Workshop's 'Memory Screen' video. It was also before the CKY/Bam explosion too, by the way!

Listing:

"A Little Ethnic Song" Dinosaur Jr.
"Streets Of Calcutta" Ananda Shankar
"Nervous Breakdown" Black Flag
"Swiss Gold" Turing Machine
"Possessed To Skate" Suicidal Tendencies
"Just Like Heaven" Dinosaur Jr.
"Chemical Wire" Firehose
"The Wagon" Dinosaur Jr.
"The Knife Song" Milk
"Pipeline" Agent Orange
"Little Kings and Queens" Odd Numbers
"Bran's Freestyle" from the CKY Video
"Brave Captain" Firehose
"Shit Luck" Modest Mouse
Tom Penny's song from eS Menikmati
"Freak Scene" Dinosaur Jr.
Arto Saari's song from eS Menikmati
"Polyethylene" Radiohead

Too Good

This spot is amazing, but never drained and dry. One day, one day.

Original Blind in Paris

This morning a very old wish of mine came true. Ever since I saw Blind's 'Video Days' for the first time and saw the Paris pond footage with Danny Way in the foreground I've always wondered if there was more footage of what was then the original team skating Paris...never did I actually expect to find out. I was watching the footage extras from 'The Man Who Souled The World' DVD this morning and thinking "this isn't really unseen though is it" and then it gets to the Blind in Paris 5 minute long segment and my face melted. Literally a wish come true. I can't believe so much of that never got used, it's fucked up. That could be released as a tour video today and it would kill it...Jason Lee's flip to pivot is golden and the 50-50 360 out is decades before it's time. An amazing team, an amazing time, an amazing place and all filmed by Spike Jonze. Untouchable.

P.S. A HUGE thanks to ray for the loan!

Sunday Breakfast

Checked out the local cafe yesterday morning. It was amazing.

Romance Is/Isn't Dead

Danny Supa

A while back I nominated Danny Supa as a possible contender for best switch flip and knocked up an animated GIF to demonstrate. I was only being devil's advocate, it was always going to be Keenan.

P.S. The flip is no excuse for the NASA shorts though, mind

Alien Workshop 'Mind Field' Trailer

Alien Workshop back on form was a great trailer for the new video, due next year. Nobody does seagulls in super8 like AWS.

Magical Mystery Tour

Off out on this warm autumn morning, 10:15 start on Gorm's magical mystery spot tour part 1. First up, the perfect little bank at the hospital skatepark for warmups.

Overview

Gorm Frontside Tailtap Slider

360 Flip to Fakie

Leukaemia

Next spot was a small, crappy pre-fab skatepark but with one redeaming feature, a curved ledge. Well, it would have been perfect, if it wasn't covered in fanta.

Bailed for a local legend, the grand old man of concrete banks. Ten years ago Shier had a ridiculous 360 flip to fakie on this spot out the top. Unthinkable considering the surface.

Gorm had huge spitfires, my new little LOFI Puleo wheels were going to cry.

With a bit of hopping up of cracks with fingers crossed we got a couple of tricks before a bit of new spot hunting and home to Croydon.

R'n'R

Gorm Tailtap

Looking forward to part 2 and to maybe filming a trick or two on the old man bank for Never Forever.

Goodies Skate Team

My friend Jim and I were bored around my old house in Bicknacre so we decided to write a prank letter (well it was 1991) to RAD magazine. I guess we were fan's of giant cats at the time or something.
